Durga slaying Mahishasura. Mahishasura is a powerful demon who had taken the form of a buffalo. He conquered the heavens and possessed the palace of the gods. The gods offered the goddess Durga their powerful weapons to battle Maheshasura. She thrust her trident into his chest and killed him, winning back the heavens and earth from Maheshasura.

This figure was part of a much larger set. They were made by two Indian modellers who had at one time been employed by an Italian dealer in such figures of Delhi.
