Octagonal, shallow plate with a slightly fitted rim. In the centre is a medallion enclosing a seated figure of 'Hope' holding an anchor in her right hand and leaning on a shield of arms. Round the well are painted four joined swags of gilt 'husk' pattern with cameo pendants in pink and 'rope and anchor' motives in between. On the rim are four long cartouches framed in scrollwork representing the four continents, and between them oval cameos containing vases. A gilt fillet border encircles the rim. With the arms of Carr & Martin in pretence.
