Bowl, Egypt, 11th century-12th century
Physical description
The bowl is glazed on both the inside and the outside except for the high ring base, which is left bare. The body was fragmentary and has been restored using a similar turquoise glaze and decoration. The body is modelled to create ribs in relief, while a band underneath the rim has incised decoration of stylised scrolls. The mouth has a rolled rim. This bowl was found at Fustat and can be related to other similar vessels recovered from contexts dateable to the eleventh and twelfth centuries.
