Physical description
Costume design for a Court Lady in Act III. The design depicts a full length female figure wearing a late 19th century style costume adapted for ballet performance. The costume consists of a dark blue sleeveless evening dress, decorated with silver spangles. The figure also wears a black sash decorated with gold medals; elbow length black gloves; black tights; and a silver tiara worn with a long dark blue & silver veil at the rear. Unsigned by the artist. A photocopy of the logo for "Northern Ballet Theatre" is glued on to the lower right hand corner.

Object history note
This costume design by Lez Brotherston is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 2002. The design was executed for a production of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet "Swan Lake" performed by Northern Ballet Theatre at the Leeds Grand Theatre, February 8th 1992. The production was choreographed by Dennis Wayne, directed by Christopher Gable, and lit by Paul Pyant. This original production was revised with new choreography by Michael Pink at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre on September 24th 1994.
