The costume consists of a long black coat decorated with gold braiding and buttons, worn with black trousers, boots, and gloves. The figure also wears a grey astrakhan hat, and carries a crossbow in his right hand. Unsigned by the artist. A photocopy of the logo for "Northern Ballet Theatre" has been glued on to the lower right hand corner.

Object history
This costume design by Lez Brotherston is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 2002. The design was executed for a production of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet "Swan Lake" performed by Northern Ballet Theatre at the Leeds Grand Theatre, February 8th 1992. The production was choreographed by Dennis Wayne, directed by Christopher Gable, and lit by Paul Pyant. This original production was revised with new choreography by Michael Pink at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre on September 24th 1994.
