Pen and ink drawing with watercolour, on paper backed with linen. The design comprises a plan, longitudinal section and four cross sections of a tunnel proposed to go under Exhibition Road from the basement floor of the Science Schools (now the Henry Cole Wing). The interior of the tunnel contains flights of steps at either end, and is finished with simple architectural detailing: pilasters supporting round-headed arches with compartmented soffits, and an entablature running the length of the passage. Scale bar; some annotations. The sheet is entitled 'DRAWING NO 2 - SCIENCE AND ART DEPARTMENT - SOUTH KENSINGTON - PERMANENT BUILDINGS - TUNNEL UNDER EXHIBITION ROAD'.
