This is a poster to promote tourism in Germany issued by the Reichsbahnzentrale für den Deutschen Reiseverkehr (Central German Railway Office for Tourist Traffic). From 1933 the National Socialist Workers’ Party (the Nazi Party) classified the avant-garde and more experimental Modernist poster design as ‘degenerate’. Instead, they promote a heroic, realist style. The design of this poster is dominated by an eagle, the national emblem of Germany.
