Jan van der Straet and Hans Vedreman de Vries. Plate 1 from a set of 4 illustrations to the parable of the Ungrateful Servant. The central plates by Jan van der Straet are set within an ornamental border in the style of Hans Vedremen de Vries. Flemish, 1560-1590.

Marks and inscriptions
  • The plate is numbered '1' in the lower right of the image.
  • Lettered within a cartouche placed in the lower centre of the ornamental border: 'Dominus servo suo debitum decies / mille Talentorum / condonat. / 1 / Math. 18'
Object history
The central image and border were probably printed from seperate plates. A note in the acquisition register attributes the central image to Jan van der Straet and the ornamental border to Hans Vedreman de Vries.

V&A inventory numbers E.2708-1913 to E. 2711-1913 are reverse copies of this plate.
