Engraved bookplate of Henry Phipps. The bookplate depicts three cherubs around a central cartouche filled with text that reads, 'Take me my bookshelves to your arms, And shield me from the cares of life.' Two cherubs are shown atop the cartouche and appear to be writing in a book: one is holding the book whilst the other is dipping a pen into ink. The third cherub sits below the cartouche and shown reading. Behind him there is a row of books by well-known authors including Tennyson, Milton and Shakespeare.
