Drawing

1927 (drawn)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Drawing by Ernest Tristram, sketch of the window and surrounding paintings on the north wall of the nave of Capel Church in Kent. On the western jamb of the window is a scene showing God convicting Cain. To the left of this, on the wall beside the window, there is a crenelated tower above which is a strip of painted decoration and the feet of the people in the painting above. To the right of the window is a group of figures, probably saints, above which, again, is a strip of painted decoration and the feet of the people in the painting above. Below the window there are two figures seated at a table; they are only partially visible as the paint has flaked from the wall to reveal the masonry beneath.
