| Object history | This volume of sketches was given by the artist to his friend, John Parry, of Wrexham (see letter accompanying sketches), and passed, by successive stages, to Miss Edgeworth (not Edgecumbe, as stated in a letter from Dr. G. C. Williamson in The Times Literary Supplement , May 8, 1919), from whom they were obtained by Mr. F. Wellesley, whose collection was sold at Sotheby's in June 1920, when the drawings formed Lot 239. Purchased from the sale of Messers Hodgson and Co, Lot 856, June 6 1928. |
