Place of origin |
This ring was described as ‘Saracenic’, probably meaning of unknown Islamic origin, when it was acquired by the Museum in 1891. It is difficult to be more precise; a cornelian was the most common stone in Islamic rings, and filigree was equally popular. It is unlikely to date from much earlier than its time of acquisition.
