This poster advertises the 13th International Biennial of Graphic Art in Ljubljana in 1979. The design is a tour de force of monochrome subtleties. The flowing streams of black and white lines recall organic plant forms, but as though in sections seen through a microscope. The balance between abstraction and figuration is delicately poised. The red ‘13’ hovers between the minimal strip of lettering, creating a third surface in the design.
