Said to have come from the Strawberry Hill collection.
At the time of acquisition, was believed to be 15th century.
Historical context
The panel probably depicts the marriage of John Fitzalan and Eleanor Maltravers in around 1359. The Maltravers had their attainture for treason lifted in the 1354 Parliament.
The arms of Richard FitzAlan, Earl of Arundel, appear in the Falkirk Roll (c.1298) as: gules a lion rampant or.
