  • It appears to have had a thin oil smeared over it - the slip and moustache made out with semi-colour - the high lights taken out with a quill pencil or stick, then the outline laid on solid and clean. The drapery has been stippled in oil on a smeared shadow. The outline put in as head, diapered border scratched out on a block laid ground. (Notes by the artist relating to the head of St Peter)
