This is a poster for an exhibition of pictures by Christopher Nevinson (1889-1946) held at the Leicester Galleries in London in 1919. Several of the works in the exhibition had theatrical or cabaret subjects, like that in the poster. Nevinson was an official war artist. The spotlights are a kind of parody of the searchlights that he had depicted in his war paintings. They cast Futurist-type angular shadows.
