The cycle of zodiac animals is a very popular aspect of Chinese folk culture, each creature controlling their year of influence as well as having their own additional symbolism. The pig is the last of the twelve creatures in the Chinese zodiac and is esteemed as a bringer of wealth and virility. Cut from glossy blue paper, the artist has decorated the body of the pig with floral motifs, and the band of saw-tooth cuts around the neck of the pig represents hair.
