A poster advertising the re-opening of the Cabaret du Chat Noir on 3 October 1896 and the Théâtre du Chat Noir three days later. The Chat Noir was a cabaret club in Paris's avant-garde Montmartre district that featured shadow theatre performances. The black cat (chat noir) on the poster refers also to the silhouette painting of black cats on the club's walls.
