Place of origin

This pair of women's shoes are of red leather laced with silk ribbons. They have a medium heel, pointed toe and punched leather decoration. The shoes are elegant but also practical. The style suggests that around 1900 women were gradually becoming more independent and needed shoes that were not simply decorative accessories.
