Painted in colour and decorated with gilding. The decoration consists of wavy bands with floral ornament arranged alternatively red on white and white on blue. Around the rim of both objects is a border of red scrolls.
The cup and saucer were decorated in China in imitation of English Worcester ware of ca. 1800.

Transferred from the Museum of Practical Geology (Jermyn Street, London), accessioned in 1901. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Asia Department registers, as part of a 2022 provenance research project.
