Physical description

Cup and saucer with engraved decoration on the outside (added in Europe, probably Germany ca. 1700-1725). Painted in blue; in the centre of each is a lake scene, within a circular compartment surrounded by four rosettes. The outside of the cup and rim of the saucer are covered with a brown glaze which has been ground away so as to form a pattern in white, of birds amid flowering stems.
