The body ovoid, the base a concave circular depression in the base of the body which is constructed of two sections of raised, spun metal, the joint braised and polished on the outside rendering it invisible. The opening, a circular aperture with a plain, moulded rim, in the top and off centre towards the rear. The spout, a plain cone which is soldered to the front of the body at an angle of approximately 45°, the internal aperture screened by a sieve of perforated sheet metal. The handle, directly opposite the spout and behind the circular aperture is a plain tapering cone of turned maplewood which connects with the body at a plain, circular moulded junction and at an angle similar to the spout directly opposite. The wooden handle is attached to the body through the centre by a long steel screw, capped by a black steel dome with the raised letters around the circumference, R S B N. The external surfaces, highly polished, the interior of the vessel left matt. The lid (M.12:2-1998) is a turned maplewood ball.
