Needle lace border. Scrolling stems with interlaced knots at intervals bear columbine flowers, pomegranates, strawberries, cornflowers and other flowers. Amongst the foliage are a figure in eastern dress, dogs and horses.

Worked mainly in solid buttonhole stitch over a cross-thread, with some fillings of spaced, knotted buttonhole stitch, raised outlines and three-dimensional spots of raised buttonhole stitches. The pattern is linked by buttonholed bars.

A later bobbin lace edging is attached to the lower edge. The original straight edging consist of a line of plaited threads with a line of simple needle-made openings worked into the outside edge.
