Miss Muir was set apart as a dressmaker by her pure, disciplined approach which ensured that designing, cutting, construction, and finishing were all accomplished to the most exacting standards. jersey is an extremely difficult fabric to handle and control but Jean Muir mastered it completely, ast his sensual evening dress with its provocative keyhole neckline reveals. Below a glistening stand-up collar 14 slender panles are immaculately seamed and top-stitched and gently flare over the body to the hem. Jean Muir was internationally famous for softly tailored, little black dresses in jersey. [1997]
