Costume design for a Transylvanian Man. The design depicts a full length male figure wearing an 1880's style Transylvanian peasant costume adapted for ballet performance. The costume consists a long, fur lined coat worn over grey baggy trousers, a black underjacket, and a broad blue and red sash tied around the waist. The figure also wears black boots and a black astrakhan hat. Four photocopies depicting Eastern European peasant costume have been glued to the right of the figure. The design has been stamped by the "Society of British Theatre Designers" and the "International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades United Scenic Artists" in the upper right hand corner. Signed by the artist.

Object history
This costume design by Lez Brotherston is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 2002. The design was executed for a production of Michael Pink's ballet "Dracula" performed by Northern Ballet Theatre at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre on September 16th, 1996. The production, based on an original idea by Ken Russell after Bram Stoker's novel of the same name, was directed by Christopher Gable, composed by Philip Feeney, and lit by Paul Pyant. The production toured the country extensively, and was performed at Sadler's Wells in March 1999. The ballet has also entered the repertoire of the Atlanta Ballet, the Colorado Ballet, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and the Norwegian National Ballet.
