Artist/Maker
Place of origin

A series of casts of hands, including this one, was acquired by the Museum in 1892 from the executors of the estate of Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm. Boehm executed a number of works associated with the Prince of Wales, perhaps most notably the monumental sculpture of the Prince on horseback erected in 1879 in Bombay, India. A plaster model for that work - also given by the executors of the late sculptor - is in the Museum's collections (inv.no. 1804-1892).
