Bell-shaped tutu, with overskirt cut into deep serrations at lower edge, of off white synthetic chiffon printed with a design of grey, green and peach spiders' webs; some areas between the 'spokes' have been removed and backed with fine net with silver lurex threads; the skirt is dotted with traces of silver tinsel, rosettes of pale mauve synthetic fabric backet with black net and centered with a pearl, and tiny pieces of fine iridescent braid. The top underskirt of pale green net extends below the topshirt; beneath are graduated layers of net in white, green pink and peach built onto peach lycra knickers. The bodice is of palest green synthetic silk repp, with applique spiders webs cut from the skirt fabric and highlighted with trails of fine silver tinsel and around the top edge rosettes in mauve and pale pink as on the skirt. At the top edge front is an infill of flesh coloured net. The shoulder straps are of flesh coloured elastic trimmed with rosettes; attached at the front of each strap narrow round elasitic holds anarrow serrated-edged armband of the name fabric as the skirt decorated with rosettes and pieces of fine iridescent braid. The bodice fastens down the back with hooks and eyes.

Object history
The tutu was designed by Maria Bjornson for a nymph in the Vision scene (Act II) of Marius Petipa's ballet The Sleeping Beauty, The Royal Ballet, 1994.

Historical significance: An example of the bell-shaped tutu, which relates to the outline of the tutus for the original production of the ballet in 1890. For most of the 20th century, the 'plate' tutu was the preferred shape.
