E.752 to 788-1939 were drawn during a visit to South Devon and Cornwall in June-July 1837 and were presented by the artist to Captain and Mrs. Hornby and their family. (See pp.17, 73 and 107 of Edward Lear by Angus Davidson, London, 1938.)
