The image below is of a coastal scene at sunset, with sailing ships visible, the name 'TURNER' inscribed in a large sunburst.
The image above is of a man perched on a stool painting at an easel, with his feet resting on the easel. Inscribed below this image is 'D. Mackie de[?]' and 'S. Haybon Sct', the latter of which is not correctly reversed for use on a printing plate (in addition, the final letters 'S' and 't' are not reversed). This image has also been stamped across the centre 'DESTROYED 22ND NOVEMEBER 1883'.
