Tiara
ca. 1908 (made)

Place of origin |
Henry Wilson's jewellery is distinctive for its rich colour combinations worked in stones and enamel, and its sculptural qualities. Trained originally as an architect, Wilson became interested in metals in the early 1890s, going on to teach at the Royal College of Art, and publishing a practical manual 'Silverwork and Jewellery' in 1903. Very few tiaras were made by Arts and Crafts jewellers, perhaps because of their essentially formal nature, but Wilson is known to have designed several in the early 20th Century.
