Costume design for Mina. The design depicts a full length female figure wearing an 1880's style costume adapted for ballet performance. The costume consists of a tight fitting white bodice with long sleeves and red cuffs and lapels, worn over a white blouse and a white skirt with bustle. To the right of the figure is a drawing showing the back view of the costume. Also attached to the right of the figure is a photocopy of an 1880's fashion plate. Unsigned by the artist.

Object history | This costume design by Lez Brotherston is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 2002. The design was executed for a production of Michael Pink's ballet "Dracula" performed by Northern Ballet Theatre at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre on September 16th, 1996. The production, based on an original idea by Ken Russell after Bram Stoker's novel of the same name, was directed by Christopher Gable, composed by Philip Feeney, and lit by Paul Pyant. The production toured the country extensively, and was performed at Sadler's Wells in March 1999. The ballet has also entered the repertoire of the Atlanta Ballet, the Colorado Ballet, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and the Norwegian National Ballet. |
