Vase: Seccionist Ware Designed by Léon Victor Albert Solon, (British, 1872-1957) and John William Wadsworth (British, 1879-1955) Made by Minton & Co., Stoke-on-Trent, Great Britain, about 1904 Earthenware, with hand-applied raised slip and hand-painted decoration Circ.364-1976 'Secessionist Ware' was lanched in 1902 as an 'artistic' range of goods at a reasonsable price. The name must have been chosen for its fashionable connotations rather than through commitment to 'progressive' Secessionist ideals for the designs often use historic ornament.'
