Middle East, Metalwork. Slender double edged blade that screws into the hollow haft of the mace. The blade is mounted in a cylindrical grip with a toothed guard, with a fluted tapering pommel decorated in gold kuftkari fitted with a ring for a lanyard, Iran, 19th century. Islamic arms and armour. Inter-departmental transfer to MES, RF 2011/1170.

Steel head in the form of an interlaced knot, with an octagonal collar with a broad, thick pierced and cusped flange, screwed onto a hollow steel haft decorated with chiselled panels and gold kuftkari, Iran, 19th century.
