Brief description
Alabaster canopy. English, 15th century.
Physical description
The canopy is divided into four sections of open tracery, each surmounted by a double ornamented and pointed arch which intrudes into a horizontal band of battlementing.

The canopy has suffered little damage. There are traces of gilding on the canopy. On the border at the bottom of the canopy there is a simple painted geometric design of crosses and the paint looks modern. The back of the canopy has two lead-plugged holes and is cut away as if to allow light from the back to filter through the traceries at the front. The back of the canopy is incised with a 'VIII.'
