The bamboo framework of this conical summer hat was covered inside and outside with white and red silk gauze and over this was a fine transparent netting woven from bamboo fibre. Such summer hat would have been worn by officials. A long twisted red fringe together with a horsehair plume plaited to resemble a peacock feather in a green jade socket, hangs from the pointed top which is surmounted by a red crystal set in a gilt-metal socket. Extra plume has been sewn inside the hat.
