Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Tools used in wood engraving are similar to those used in metal engraving but the shaft is set in the handle at a different angle because the tool enters the wood at a shallower angle. These numbered tools were given by artist Percy Roberts and accompanied a detailed explanation as to their use, and a demonstration block showing their effects. The numbered labels correspond to numbered squares on a demonstration block, Museum no. E.365-1915; impressions taken from the blocks are Museum nos E.366-1915 - E368-1915.
