Costume design possibly for Aladdin. The design depicts a full length male figure wearing a Chinese style costume for a peasant. The costume consists of a thigh length grey tunic, tied at the waist with a black belt, and worn over a pair of dark blue trousers. The figure also wears a small grey cap, and wears his hair in a long black pigtail. On the reverse is a pencil drawing of a male head. Unsigned by the artist.

Object history | This costume design by Lez Brotherston is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 2002. The design was executed for a projected production of the ballet "Aladdin" by Scottish Ballet ca. 1999. The ballet was eventually produced by Scottish Ballet with choreography by Robert Cohan at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, December 20th 2000. The designer for this production was Colin Falconer. |
