The company was going through a financial crisis and the ballet was eventually presented at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, 20 December 2000. The costume designer for this production was Colin Falconer by Brotherston shared the credit for the set design.

Costume design by Lez Brotherston for the Emperor in the projected ballet "Aladdin", Scottish Ballet ca. 1999.
Physical description
Costume design for the Emperor. The design depicts a full length male figure wearing Chinese Imperial robes. The costume consists of a long orange robe decorated with golden dragons and a wave pattern at the hem, and a large decorative collar and "hoof" cuffs. The figure also wears a long jade necklace and a red hat. To the right of the figure are two colour photocopies showing details of Chinese Imperial robes, which have been glued onto the design. Unsigned by the artist.
