Place of origin |
In scale and pose this statuette recalls figures made in the South Netherlands, but its polychromy and facial features suggest it is Spanish, almost certainly made in Andalucía. The distinctive courtly costume echoes the paintings of individual saints by the Seville painter Francisco Zurbarán (1598-1664).
