Place of origin |
Design for a day dress and matching hat. The ankle-length dress, with leg o'mutton sleeves, is mainly made from a soft brown fabric and is cut in the style of a long edge-to-edge coat with a high mandarin collar of golden-yellow patterned silk. The effect is of the coat being caught up at the waist by a golden silk belt, with the body of the coat drawn up and draped over the belt to create a draped effect, with the upper part of the coat worn open, revealing the lining of yellow silk and an under-bodice of the same yellow fabric. It is paired with a matching cloché hat of draped brown and yellow fabric and a very long, slim walking cane.
