Physical description
Sketchbook containing designs for various styles of furniture and interiors, including cabinets made by William Watt for the Paris international Exhibition of 1878, a design for a fireplace for Frank Miles, ceramics and textiles, with designs for a monument to ‘Stoliczka’, for a large house, and for a front, pulpit and choir stalls for St. Wilfrid’s Church, Egginton, Derbyshire, together with a plan of the artist’s garden at Fallows Green, Harpenden. 152 pages of ruled paper (others missing, two of wove paper inserted), quarter-bound in leather, canvas boards.

Object history note
The plan and designs for the interior of a room on pp.6 and 7 relate to the designs on the back of E.506-1963. The design on p.73 is for a cabinet in the Japanese style which is in the Department of Circulation, Circ.34-1958. On p.81 is a design for a coffee table made by William Watt which is illustrated on Pl.8 of Art Furniture from Designs by E.W. Godwin… by W. Watt, London, 1877. Complete front and side elevations of the design on p.96 for a cabinet mantelpiece made by W. Watt are reproduced on p.599 of Vol.34 of The Building News, 1878. Other designs for the furnishings of St. Wilfred’s Church, Egginton are in the sketch-books E.231-1963 and on the sheet E.393-1963.
