Object history
This plate is from a volume consisting of a title-page and 49 plates published in London by John and Josiah Boydell ca.1800, and entitled A Collection of Fifty Etchings after Raphael, Julio Romano, Guido…&c. after the Original Drawings in the Collection of the Elector Palatine…at Dusseldorf. Plate 14 is missing. The volume is bound in brown calf, marbled boards.

Lambert Krahe first published these plates as Nouvelle Collection d’Estampes… in 1781. The present edition appears in the publisher’s Catalogue of Plates… London, 1803; a completed copy is in the Victoria and Albert Museum Library. The collection of drawings formerly at Düsseldorf, made by Carl Theodor, Count Palatine of the Rhine, is now in the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung, Munich.
