Note: The Utility Furniture scheme was started during the Second World War and was organised by an Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of Sir Charles Tennyson, C.M.G., composed of Sir Gordon Russell and other designers. Lists of the committee members and associated designers are given in the Utility Furniture catalogue, 1946, where the furniture is illustrated; the designs are reproduced in a booklet, General Specification for Utility Furniture, 1948. Both catalogues were issued by the Board of Trade and copies are in the Victoria and Albert Museum Library."
