"DEARE, John (1759-1798)
Drawings (236) mainly of antique statues and reliefs on Rome, including some at the Villa Albani, the Villa Medici, the Capitol, the Palazzo Farnese, the Villa Aldobrandini and other places, 1785-1789. Mounted in two volumes, full bound in leather, gold tooled.
Many signed and dated and inscribed with notes etc.

Note: John Deare was sent to Rome by the Royal Academy in 1785, for three years as a travelling student. These drawings were made during this period. The two volumes were formerly in the collection of Mr. Derek Sherborn."
