A similar portrait of Augustus John with variant details was No. 18 in the exhibition of drawings and caricatures by Edmond Kapp, held at the Little Art Rooms, Adelphi, London, 1 to 22 May 1919. It is reproduced as Pl.7 to the artist's Personalities, London, 1919.
