Object history | The monument on the left of the view is the memorial to the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was erected between the Albert Hall and Prince Consort Road and was the work of James Durham. The first concert at the Albert Hall was held on the 25 February 1871, as an acoustic test to an audience of approximately 7,000 people comprising the workmen and their families, various officials and the invited public. |
