Object history
Of calyx krater form. Foot and cover of waisted profile, the bottom half of the body bearing acanthus ornament. Upswept handles with squared off tops and scale pattern. Acorn finial and a wine frieze around the rim. The washed technique of this drawing is related to that of architectural drawings of the period, although the design of the cup is clearly for silver. Bought from the dealer Robert Jackson in 1883.
