Design by Belanger for the salon of Louise-Jeanne de Durfort, duchesse de Mazarin (1735–1781), quai Malaquais, Paris.

Physical description

Pen, ink and watercolour drawing on paper of a high ceiling wall in the House of Duchesse de Mazarin. Pastel blues, greens, and roses make up most of the colouring. A fireplace with gold Egyptian sculptures is included on the left. Large solid coloured panels surrounded in ornate gold carved moulding make up the centre of the drawing and double-doors decorated in depictions of griffin, women figures, and Eros are portrayed on the right. Two cherub sculptures holding a blue and gold painted medallion are included high above the doors. Elegant chairs with floral upholstery and gold carved legs and arms line the back of wall.
