Duncan Grant designed pottery and textiles for the Omega Workshops, founded in 1913 by Roger Fry. In the 1920s and 1930s he collaborated with Vanessa Bell in the production of interior schemes, many completed by rugs, printed furnishings and embroideries.
His designs for printed textiles like this screen printed cotton velvet, were produced by Allan Walton, textile designer, manufacturer and interior decorator. As Director of Allan Walton Textiles, Walton commissioned some of the most enterprising artist-designed printed fabrics of the 1930s and was Director of the Glasgow School of Art from 1943 to 1945.
