Object history
The design is directly derived from a salver of the mid 1700s in the Rococo style. This drawing is from a group of designs as 9274.11, 18 and 22 appear to be from the same hand and carry similar inscriptions.
These drawings may have formed part of a priced pattern book as they give prices and catalogue numbers.
Drawings number 9274.1-29 are or were all pasted into a stitched set of pages which have been incorporated into a modern museum binding and mounted out of chronological order. They date from c. 1820 to c. 1850 and may possibly originate from the same workshop. 9274.1-29 bought from the dealer E. Parsons 17th June 1884 for 2 pounds and 10 shillings.
